COMPANY PROFILE / DRONES AND ROBOTICS

XPeng
An electric-vehicle maker extending into “physical AI”: the IRON humanoid robot and the AeroHT flying car

XPeng (Guangzhou, China) is an electric-vehicle maker listed on the New York Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This profile covers only the IRON humanoid robot and the AeroHT flying car (now branded ARIDGE); it does not cover the car business. What its filings show is this. The humanoid robot is handled by Dogotix, a subsidiary acquired in 2023, and on 24 August 2026 a financing of US$900 million from outside investors was agreed (completion is conditional). The chairman said in May 2026 that he is working to achieve mass production of humanoid robots this year, and in August that development of the mass-production version had reached significant milestones. The flying car, by contrast, is not an XPeng subsidiary but a separate company over which the founder has influence (Guangdong Huitian); XPeng holds a small stake in preferred shares and a convertible bond and handles manufacturing and sales agency. No shipments, revenue or prices for the robot appear in the company’s materials. This profile stays within the 20-F, the ESG report, results releases and Hong Kong announcements, and treats orders and mass-production timing as company claims or targets. Checked 25 October 2026.

Built from XPeng Inc.’s 20-F filed with the U.S. SEC (16 April 2026), its ESG report (17 April), results releases (November 2025, May and August 2026), announcements to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (22 August 2025 and 24 August 2026) and the ARIDGE website / Checked 25 October 2026

The one point to grasp first

XPeng’s robots and flying cars hold different positions inside the company. The humanoid robot is the business of Dogotix, a wholly owned subsidiary, which agreed in August 2026 to take US$900 million from outside investors (completion is conditional, and investors hold a right to require a buy-back if a public listing does not happen) Sourced. The flying car, on the other hand, is the product of a separate company in which the founder, He Xiaopeng, has influence (Guangdong Huitian); XPeng provides R&D services, manufacturing and sales agency. The 20-F discloses this relationship as a related-party arrangement Sourced. For both, units shipped, revenue, price and type certification cannot be confirmed in the company’s materials. This profile keeps apart “management states mass production as a goal” and “it has been achieved”.

2. The logo and how the name is written

A note on names: the company is XPeng Inc. (also written XPENG, as in its brand; sometimes rendered Xiaopeng Motors). The humanoid robot business sits in the subsidiary Dogotix Inc. (its Chinese operating companies include Guangdong Pengxing Intelligence), which its announcement calls the “XPeng Robotics Business”. The flying-car brand is AeroHT, run by Guangdong Huitian Aerospace Technology (its parent is HT Flying Car Inc.). On 25 October 2026 aeroht.com redirected to the website of ARIDGE (aridge.com). “AeroHT” in this article means that flying-car business.

3. Where the company sits in the drones and robotics field

Four types of company in drones and robotics Even among “robot companies”, what a firm makes and who it sells to shapes its strengths and its challenges Humanoids & physical AI Industrial & specialist robots Drones & eVTOL Components & enabling software Humanoid, learning robots Factory, clinic, inspection Aircraft and their operation Parts and AI behind robots Figure AI / Boston Dynamics Unitree / UBTech FANUC / Yaskawa Universal Robots / Intuitive DJI / Skydio Zipline / Joby Harmonic Drive NVIDIA Learning, versatility Track record, reliability Airspace uses, compliance Presence in supply chains Mass production unproven Adapting to change; price Regulation, certification Depends on shipments Mainly humanoids & physical AI; the affiliate’s flying vehicles are secondary (our classification) Car business excluded: only IRON and the AeroHT flying car (per its 20-F and ESG report)
Fig. 1 Four types of company in drones and robotics, and where XPeng sits. The grouping is ours; example companies are drawn from those profiled in this series Our calculation. That XPeng works on both a humanoid robot and flying vehicles comes from its 20-F and ESG report. The flying vehicle is an affiliate’s product.

See also our explainers on humanoid robots, eVTOLs and flying cars, and robot foundation models and VLA. An eVTOL is an electric aircraft that takes off and lands vertically. The company’s materials treat both businesses as part of physical AI (AI with a body), but the humanoid is a subsidiary and the flying car an affiliate, so their accounting and control differ. The groupings are ours, not the company’s own Our calculation.

4. Scale (limited to robots and flying cars)

Most of XPeng is a car business. Group-wide scale is shown briefly here, and for robots and flying cars the table separates “confirmed” from “not disclosed”. Amounts are in CNY Sourced.

A caution

Group revenue and R&D are mostly figures for the car business. They do not show the scale of robots or flying cars. Also, the flying-car company (Guangdong Huitian) is not consolidated into XPeng’s accounts. According to the 20-F, XPeng holds its preferred shares and convertible bond at fair value Sourced. This article does not estimate sales or units for robots or flying cars.

5. Resources committed to robots and aircraft

24 August 2026Announced the Dogotix financing (US$900 million). In the results release of the same date it said development of the mass-production version had reached milestonesOutside capital brought into the robot business

7. What comes next

HUMANOID MASS PRODUCTIONTargeted within 2026A goal stated by the chairman in May 2026. Units, price and factory capacity are not disclosed
FLYING-CAR MASS PRODUCTIONExpected in 2026Stated in the August 2025 announcement. The timing of type certification could not be confirmed
DOGOTIX FINANCINGExpected to complete, conditionallyUS$900 million, with a further US$15 million facility and warrants for up to US$500 million. The announcement states it may not proceed
A868In flight validationA six-seat aircraft with an estimated range of 500 km. A service date could not be confirmed

These are expectations and targets stated by the company and are not facts that have been achieved Not yet confirmed. The company announced in August 2025 that flying-car mass production was “expected in 2026”, but as of 25 October 2026 we could not confirm a primary source showing that mass production had started or that a type certificate had been granted.

What could not be confirmed

None of the following could be confirmed in the 20-F, ESG report, results releases or announcements Not yet confirmed: IRON’s price, units shipped and units working in factories; the capacity of a humanoid mass-production line (press reports a start in September 2026, but this article has not checked a primary source); the status of type certification, production approval or airworthiness certificates for the flying vehicles; the breakdown of the 7,000 orders and any advance payments; R&D spending on robots or flying cars alone. “Industry first” and “world first” are company claims that this article has not verified.

8. What the company is aiming for in drones and robotics

This part includes things the company has not said directly. It is inference within what the primary sources show, written with its grounds.

What can be readPrimary-source groundsClass
It is separating the robot business from the car business and growing it with other investors’ moneyThe announcement says outside funding lets the value of the robot business be assessed on its own and lowers the group’s funding burdenSourced (company statement)
It shares car AI, chips and OS with the robotThe ESG report says IRON uses the same VLA and VLM as the cars; the announcement says R&D resources and results in physical AI will be sharedInference
The flying car is meant to be produced using XPeng’s manufacturing and sales networkThe cooperation framework has XPeng handle manufacturing and sales agency, while Huitian develops and builds the air module and also bears the cost of upgrading factoriesSourced
Management repeatedly commits to mass-production timingNovember 2025 (advancing rapidly toward mass production), May 2026 (to achieve it this year) and August 2026 (the mass-production version reached milestones)Inference
The first use for humanoids is guided tours and shopping assistance, with industry still at an exploring stageThe ESG report lists these as the initial uses and says it is exploring industrial inspection with Baosteel GroupSourced
One inference in more detail

The announcement says that bringing in outside money lets “the value of Dogotix and the XPeng Robotics Business be better reflected on their own merits”. Investors are given a right to require a buy-back if Dogotix does not complete a qualified public offering within seven years, among other triggers Sourced. From this, this article reads XPeng as making its robot business something that can raise capital apart from the car business, with a future listing in view. But the announcement states no listing plan, and completion of the financing is itself conditional Not yet confirmed.

9. Map of partnerships in drones and robotics

Relationships around XPeng in drones and robotics Only relationships in the 20-F, ESG report and announcements; press-based ones excluded (25 October 2026) XPeng Humanoid, flying Beijing Auto Museum IRON “worked” at Spring Festival Baosteel Group Industrial inspection under study Dogotix investors IDG, Tencent, Alibaba, Gaorong Holdings of He and Gu Subscribe Dogotix shares, warrants Guangdong Huitian (ARIDGE) Builds the air module Guangdong Xiaopeng Builds and sells for Huitian HT Flying Car Inc. Fig. 2 Sources: the 20-F, the ESG report and Hong Kong announcements. For flying vehicles, Guangdong Huitian develops and builds the air module, and Guangdong Xiaopeng (XPeng’s operating company in China) builds the vehicles and acts as sales agent, with the ground module developed jointly. Guangdong Huitian is a related party over which He Xiaopeng has influence. The Dogotix financing is an agreement of 24 August 2026 and its completion is conditional. Dotted lines show equity or affiliates and do not imply joint development.

Figures in this article come from the 20-F and Forms 6-K (including the ESG report and results releases) that XPeng Inc. filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, from its announcements and interim results to the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, and from the ARIDGE website. The car business is not covered. No research-firm estimates or press-based figures (including reports on shipments, valuations or production start dates) have been used. “Industry first”, “world first” and similar statements are company claims and are not verified here. Passages marked “Inference” are this article’s interpretation of primary sources, not statements made by the company. Share prices, valuations and investment decisions are not addressed (the valuation given for the financing is not used).
