COMPANY PROFILE / DRONES AND ROBOTICS

Agility Robotics
It sells the humanoid Digit for warehouses and factories, and is preparing both a fifth generation that can work near people and a stock-market listing

Agility Robotics is an Oregon-based humanoid company whose robot, Digit, carries totes (boxes) in warehouses, logistics and manufacturing. The company says Digit 4 has logged more than 65,000 hours of real work, and in September 2026 it unveiled the fifth generation, Digit 5. However, its SEC filing shows revenue of about US$1.78 million in 2025 and about US$0.17 million in the first half of 2026, with no robot sales at all in that half-year. Orders for Digit 5 above US$300 million have been announced, but they are subject to contractual milestones, and deliveries are planned for 2027 onward. The company is preparing to list through a merger with a SPAC (a listed shell company set up to acquire a business), and the closing is not confirmed. This profile uses only the company’s announcements and SEC filings, and does not cover valuations or investment views. Check date: 25 October 2026.

1. Agility Robotics in 30 seconds, and where it stands in drones and robotics

LEGAL NAMEAgility Robotics, Inc.Founded in Delaware in 2015 as a spin-off from Oregon State University (OSU)
HEADQUARTERSSalem, Oregon, U.S.Its factory, RoboFab, is there too. Offices in Pittsburgh and Fremont
LISTINGPrivateA merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI (Nasdaq: CCXI) is under way; closing expected in Q4 2026 (not confirmed)
TYPE IN THIS FIELDHumanoids & physical AIHumanoid robots for warehouses, logistics and manufacturing
CORE PRODUCTSDigit (4 and 5)Digit 4 is in service. Digit 5 was unveiled on 15 September 2026; early access planned for the first half of 2027
TRACK RECORD (COMPANY FIGURES)65,000+ hoursDigit 4 in total. Deployed or committed at nine customer sites (S-4)
ORDERS (COMPANY ANNOUNCEMENT)US$300 million+ (multi-year)For Digit 5, as of May 2026, subject to contractual milestones
REVENUE (SEC FILING)About US$1.78M in 2025About US$174,000 in the first half of 2026. No robot sales in that half-year
The one point to grasp first

Agility Robotics’ strength is that it says it is already putting humanoids to work and learning from it, and it publishes hours of real work (65,000+) and customer names Sourced. Yet there is a wide gap between its announcement of “over US$300 million in orders” and the “about US$1.78 million of 2025 revenue” in its SEC filing. The first is a conditional order for Digit 5, the fifth-generation robot yet to be delivered; the second is past revenue. They are different kinds of number. Read them side by side, and note that both are the company’s own disclosures.

2. The logo and how the name is written

A note on names: the legal name is Agility Robotics, Inc. and the robot is Digit. Digit generations are written “Digit v4”, “Digit 4” and “Digit 5”. Do not confuse it with other companies that have “Agility” in their names. The logo is the shape used in the header of the official site, with only the colour fixed to black.

3. Where the company sits in drones and robotics

Companies in drones and robotics are easier to understand if you sort them into four types by what they build and who buys it. Agility Robotics builds human-shaped robots that learn tasks with AI, so it is a humanoid and physical-AI company. Its distinguishing feature is that Digit starts from a narrow job, carrying totes and parts in warehouses and factories, rather than being a do-anything home robot. Physical AI means AI that moves real objects, not only text or images on a screen Sourced.

The four types of company in drones and robotics Even among “robot companies”, strengths and challenges differ by what is built and who buys it Humanoids & physical AI Industrial & specialist robots Drones & eVTOL Components & enabling software Humanoid, learning robots Factory and medical work Aircraft and operations Parts and AI behind robots Figure AI / Boston Dynamics Unitree / UBTech FANUC / Yaskawa Universal Robots/Intuitive DJI / Skydio Zipline / Joby Harmonic Drive NVIDIA Learning, generality Track record, reliability Airspace uses, regulation Presence in supply chain Scale-up still unproven Adapting to change, price Rules and certification Demand follows shipments Mainly humanoids & physical AI, deployed only in warehouse, logistics and manufacturing settings Deployment figures are company announcements. Revenue is small and orders are conditional
Fig. 1 The four types of company in drones and robotics, and where Agility Robotics sits. The grouping is ours, and company names are examples from those covered in this series Our calculation. Agility Robotics’ uses are based on its official announcements and SEC filing.

The “weakness” row in the figure is a general remark about the type as a whole, not a judgement of Agility Robotics.

4. Scale

Agility Robotics is private, but its financial statements appear in an SEC proxy statement/prospectus tied to the SPAC merger. This table shows what we could confirm from it (check date: 25 October 2026).

A caution

Revenue was about US$0.31 million in 2024 and about US$1.78 million in 2025, and robot sales in the first half of 2026 were zero. The materials we read do not explain what lies behind this (a change in how Digit 4 is sold, or waiting for Digit 5). R&D in 2025 was US$91.6 million, many times revenue.

5. Resources committed to drones and robotics

This table shows whether we could confirm each of four resources (people, money, outside investments or acquisitions, and ties with universities or public bodies) in official announcements and the SEC filing. “Not stated” is also a result.

ResourceWhat we could confirmType
PeopleAbout 393 full-time employees (30 June 2026) in Salem, Pittsburgh and Fremont. A new 50,000 sq ft site is planned in Pittsburgh as a hub for software, AI and deployment support, with first employee access expected by the end of 2026Sourced Not yet confirmed
Money: R&D and facilitiesR&D of US$91.6 million in 2025 (US$53.4 million in 2024). RoboFab in Salem is described as a purpose-built humanoid plant designed for up to 10,000 robots a year. A new Fremont site opened in July 2026Sourced
Money: fundingIt expects to raise capital through the SPAC merger (company statement). The SPAC’s trust account held about US$421 million on 30 June 2026, but what actually reaches the company depends on redemptions and terms and is not confirmedSourced Not yet confirmed
Outside investorsThe filing names strategic investors including NVIDIA, Amazon, SoftBank, Schaeffler, ABICO Group and Foxconn (company statement). Amounts are not covered hereSourced
Outside investments, acquisitions, divestmentsNo acquisition, investment or sale of a business appears in the materials we read (not confirmed)Not confirmed
Universities and public bodiesIts technology traces back to the OSU robotics institute and DARPA programmes. The Pittsburgh release mentions support from Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh leaders, without saying what the support is. On standards, it says it is a project leader on the ANSI/A3 technical report R15.108 and a contributor to ISO 25785-1 (company statement)Sourced

The table below sets out the main robots and facilities as far as the company’s own materials let us confirm (check date: 25 October 2026). Specifications and results are company claims or company tallies.

7. What comes next

Everything below is a company goal or plan, not something already achieved Not yet confirmed.

DIGIT 5 EARLY ACCESSFirst half of 2027Availability then widens over the following six to nine months
ROBOFAB DESIGN CAPACITYUp to 10,000 a yearNot actual output
AGCO PILOTStarts in 2027At a plant in Kansas
CLOSING OF THE MERGERQ4 2026 expectedThe planned Nasdaq ticker after closing is AGLT

Beyond carrying totes today, Digit 5 is planned to expand to depalletizing, machine tending, kitting, sequencing, quality inspection and palletizing. This is a company goal, not a current result.

What we could not confirm

None of the following appears in the announcements or SEC filing we read Not yet confirmed.

The price or lease rate of Digit; robot counts per customer site; the reason there were no robot sales in the first half of 2026; the breakdown of the US$300 million of orders and what the conditions are; any independent performance or safety check of Digit 5 and its final third-party certification; and whether customers will keep deploying. Figures such as “about 98%” at GXO are company tallies, and we could not confirm the measurement conditions.

8. What the company is aiming for in drones and robotics

This chapter includes readings the company does not state directly. They are inferences from official announcements, shown with their basis.

What we readPrimary basisType
It puts its main bet on safety near peopleThe Digit 5 announcement leads with safety design and lines up NVIDIA Halos, FORT Robotics and involvement in standards (ISO 25785-1, ANSI/A3 R15.108)Inference
It makes utilization (over 20 hours a day) the core of the business caseIts Chief Business Officer says Digit’s uptime is the business case, and the company stresses 90 minutes of run time and 9 minutes of chargingSourced (company statement)
Near-term revenue depends on when Digit 5 deliveries beginRobot sales were zero in the first half of 2026, and Digit 5 early access is planned for H1 2027Inference
Listing through the merger is partly about securing capitalThe prospectus says the merger is expected to give it access to additional capital to help fund its operations and business planSourced (company statement)
It plans to move beyond moving totes to covering several steps with one robotThe Digit 5 announcement says one robot is to cover the flow from depalletizing through inspection to palletizingSourced (company plan)
One inference in more detail

In September 2026 the company calls Digit 5 its first humanoid designed to work close to people without physical barriers, and gives most of the announcement to safety design Sourced. It also says it is helping shape safety standards (it describes ISO 25785-1 as “the first international safety standard for the humanoid category”). With revenue still small, we read this as an effort to build trust first, on the point that “it is safe to put one here” Not yet confirmed. But those standards are still being drafted, and we could not confirm whether the company’s safety design will conform to them.

9. Map of partnerships in drones and robotics

Relationships around Agility Robotics (only those in announcements and SEC filings) Only relationships stated in announcements and SEC filings. Press-only links are excluded (checked 25 October 2026) Agility Digit (humanoid) GXO 100,000 totes at a U.S. site Schaeffler Digit in use; also an investor Toyota Canada (TMMC) Digit in use in manufacturing AGCO Pilot agreed for 2027 NVIDIA IGX Thor compute; Halos safety Nyobolt Fast-charging battery (Digit 5) FORT Robotics Safety systems (MOU) Churchill Capital Corp XI Merger agreed (not closed) Deployment / commercial deal Parts and technology supply Agreed, not closed

NVIDIA is planned to be the exclusive onboard-compute provider for Digit 5 and is also an investor. The merger is expected to close in Q4 2026 but is not confirmed.

10. Technology, products and services

Agility Robotics’ products are easier to follow as three layers: the robot (Digit), the operating software (Arc) and the factory (RoboFab).

LayerWhat it isWhat the company says
The robotDigit 4 / Digit 5Digit 5’s legs are redesigned to withstand repeated lifting and are driven by the company’s own cycloidal actuators. The battery gives 90 minutes of run time and charges in 9 minutes. The end-effectors are swappable
Safety near peopleSafety architectureThree parts: (1) human detection (its own AI and sensors find people and avoid, stop or sit down), (2) safety cues (light and sound that signal its intent), and (3) safe motion control (an independent safety controller reacts at once when a person is too close)
Compute and safety platformNVIDIA IGX Thor / HalosOnboard compute in the general-availability Digit 5 will come only from NVIDIA. The company joins the Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab, which evaluates safety-related software, AI and cybersecurity ahead of final third-party certification
Operating softwareAgility ArcAssigns work to several robots and tracks their status. Connects to existing autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), conveyors and warehouse systems
External safety systemFORT RoboticsA three-part set: a safety pendant (a handheld unit with emergency stop), on-robot communications, and an off-robot interface that links to external safety systems
FactoryRoboFabA humanoid plant in Salem, designed for up to 10,000 a year
Digit 4 and Digit 5: the main differences the company gives All are company claims. A blank Digit 4 cell means the material we read gave no figure Digit 4 (in service) Digit 5 (early access H1 2027) Lifting Not stated Up to 22.7 kg (about 40% more) Run and charge Run : charge = 2 : 1 90 min run, 9 min charge (10 : 1) Reach height About 1.7 m (5.5 ft) 2.2 m (7.2 ft) End-effector Not stated Swappable (ISO-standard flange) Safety approach Passed field evaluation (NRTL) Designed to work near people
Illustration Main differences between Digit 4 and Digit 5. Source: Agility Robotics’ announcements of 15 September and 15 October 2026. The conversion of 5.5 ft to about 1.7 m is our calculation Our calculation. No independent verification was found.
A materials engineer’s view: where batteries and reducers matter

A fast-charging battery: the “90 minutes of run, 9 minutes of charge” of Digit 5 is said to rely on battery technology from the UK company Nyobolt, described as charging fast, lasting many cycles and saving weight Sourced. Charging fast requires that ions move quickly through the electrodes, that heat can be shed, and that degradation is held down; fitting this into a small, light pack is a hard materials problem. The cell type, capacity and materials are not disclosed.

Cycloidal actuators: a cycloidal reducer is known as a way to get a large reduction ratio in a small volume by meshing an eccentric disc with many pins (a general explanation). The company says it uses its own version so that the legs can withstand repeated lifting Sourced. How it wears, how it is lubricated and what it is made of are not stated. For the basics of reducers, see our explainer on reducers and gears.

Swappable end-effectors: the gripping part can be changed to suit the task, using an ISO-standard mounting flange. The idea is that standard parts make field swaps and sourcing easier Not yet confirmed.

11. The risks this company carries

RiskWhat it isType
Going concernWithout the merger, the company concluded its cash would not fund operations for a year, creating substantial doubt about its ability to continue as a going concern. It says there is no assurance the merger will close or provide enough fundsSourced
Small revenue and customer concentration2025 revenue was about US$1.78 million, and two customers each had 10% or more of it. The prospectus lists the risk of revenue being concentrated in a few customersSourced
Conditional ordersThe US$300 million+ in orders depends on contractual milestones and on product features and specifications. Digit 5 has not been delivered, and if the conditions are not met it may not become revenueSourced
Manufacturing capacityRoboFab is designed for up to 10,000 a year, but the prospectus says it does not currently have the facility capacity, employees or equipment to build in high volumeSourced
Safety certification is a work in progressDigit 4 is said to have passed NRTL field evaluations, but Digit 5’s final third-party certification has not been obtained (as of October 2026). Safety standards for humanoids (ISO 25785-1, ANSI/A3 R15.108) are being draftedSourced (see our explainer “How to read robot safety standards”)
Dependence on suppliersDigit 5 onboard compute in the general-availability version will come only from NVIDIA, and the battery from Nyobolt. It is exposed to supply delays or changes in termsInference
Uncertain mergerClosing is expected in Q4 2026 but is not settled, and depends on SPAC shareholder decisions and redemptionsNot yet confirmed
How people reactThe prospectus lists, as risks, that customers’ employees may resist robots and that public opinion may turn against robots seen as taking jobsSourced
