The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) has released the ‘1600ZR Coherent Interface Implementation Agreement (IA),’ a new standard defining an interoperable 1.6T coherent line interface for data center interconnects (DCI) over distances up to 120km. This landmark agreement significantly doubles the per-wavelength capacity of existing 800ZR, enabling the transmission of a single 1.6T Ethernet client on a single coherent wavelength.
