These products were presented as essential solutions for nuclear facility safety and long-term operation, offering outstanding radiation and chemical resistance.
Technical & Clinical Details
Arkema’s Kynar® and Kynar Flex® PVDF resins, owing to their unique molecular structure, exhibit excellent radiation resistance at extremely high doses, up to 150 megarads. This guarantees the extreme durability required for use in high-radiation environments, such as inside nuclear reactors or radioactive waste treatment facilities. Furthermore, these resins are resistant to many corrosive chemicals even under high temperatures, demonstrating high stability against acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and oxidants. This enables them to maintain performance over extended periods in environments where conventional metal materials might suffer corrosion or degradation.
Kynar® resins are also characterized by their purity, ease of processing, and excellent abrasion resistance. These properties make them suitable for diverse applications in the nuclear industry, including process piping for the nuclear fuel cycle, equipment linings, protective coatings for metal components, cable insulation, and storage containers. High abrasion resistance contributes to extended lifespan in environments exposed to friction and physical stress, also helping to reduce maintenance costs.
