Technical Details
The developed monomaterial adhesive tape primarily uses polymers derived from lipoic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid. This polymer can be effectively broken down into its monomer or oligomer starting materials through specific chemical treatments. The regenerated raw material can then be reused in the manufacturing of new, high-quality adhesive tapes, thereby promoting material circularity and contributing to waste reduction and decreased reliance on virgin resources. In terms of adhesive performance, the tape exhibits comparable or superior results to existing high-performance duct tapes across standard pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) evaluation criteria, including initial tack, holding power, and peel strength, on various surfaces.
