Technical Details
The solar panels supplied by BHEL incorporate high-efficiency Advanced Triple Junction Solar Cells (ATJSC). ATJSCs boast superior conversion efficiency compared to conventional single- or dual-junction solar cells, as they stack three semiconductor layers with different bandgaps to convert a broader spectrum of sunlight into electrical energy. The satellite is equipped with a total of five BHEL-manufactured solar panels, and reports indicate that they have performed as expected, or even better, during in-orbit operations since launch. Space-grade solar panels are meticulously designed to withstand the harsh space environment, including extreme temperature fluctuations, high vacuum, and cosmic radiation, making long-term stable power supply absolutely critical.
